TOOLING4G main objective (Figure 1) is taking the Portuguese tooling sector into the fourth industrial age. This implies the integration of multiple paradigmatic groups of technologies, associated with the digitalization of the industry, new materials and processes, in a highly competitive sector. This also means that the process reliability, speed and part quality have to be guaranteed, as well as the sustainability of the solutions that result from the project.
Figure 2 shows, in a schematic representation, the organizational structure of the work to be developed. Each large area of work is divided into activities, which in turn are translated into specific tasks to be achieved by the involved entities. Here, only the activities and tasks in which the University of Aveiro takes part are shown.
To accomplish the established goals, multiple companies, research and innovation centers, academic institutions and an association (Figure 3) are cooperating, bringing together multiple degrees of experience, knowledge and resources.
